Curriculum

STATEMENT OF INTENT

At Victoria Road Primary, we have designed a curriculum that challenges and inspires our children to want to know more about their world both past and present. At the core of our work is promoting positive mental health and wellbeing in order to enable our children to have the skills to help them to lead successful, happy lives and make a positive contribution to society in the future. This is shown in our ‘Key Drivers’ for our curriculum; Health and Wellbeing, Global and Local Communities and Possibilities.

Our underpinning ethos is to help our children to believe in their own self-worth by fostering a respect for each other and those from other cultures and life-styles, via a culture of embracing and celebrating differences. This extends beyond the school, into the wider local and global communities.

Our children value the wide-ranging, hands-on experiential learning that helps them to develop their enquiring minds, creativity, resilience, confidence and excellent communication skills- key skills for their next stage in their learning and skills for life.

The wide-ranging curriculum (using the Cheshire West and Chester Agreed Syllabus for RE and the National Curriculum for all other subjects) inspires all learners and actively encourages investigation that feeds their thirst for knowledge. Our enhancement of the curriculum is designed to engage all our children and offers a wide range of opportunities linked to the core values of the school (Nurture, Inspire, Accomplish).

As part of ASPIRE (a research based academy trust) and the Northwich Educational Partnership (our close community of local schools), our staff value the networking and peer-to-peer support that an extensive learning community can offer in order to provide the very best education for ourchildren.

To find out more about how we are complying with our duties in the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014 by making the curriculum accessible for those with disabilities or special educational needs please refer to our
